Behind-The-Ear (BTE)
These aids are worn behind the ears and are attached to custom-made ear-moulds by a piece of clear tubing.
BTE models are versatile and can fit a wide range of hearing loss from mild to profound hearing impairment and for people of all ages. They often use bigger batteries which make it easier to manage for elderly users. For safety and growth reasons, BTE models are recommended for children use. For those with perforated eardrums BTEs are able to provide better ventilation and amplification power. Features such as remote control, directional microphone and Bluetooth connectivity are easily available in this family of hearing aids.

Open-Fitting
These aids are similar to the behind-the-ear models but are much smaller in sizes and usually connected to highly ventilated ear-tips.
They are best for patients with mild to moderate high frequency hearing loss where low frequency hearing is still normal or near normal level. This group of patients often complain their own voice sound unnatural or “echo” (occlusion effect) when using conventional hearing aids. With the ear canal kept highly ventilated, occlusion problem can now be reduced or removed by using open fitting hearing aids. With the introduction of open fit hearing aids that fit the speakers in the ear canal directly, the aids are now even less visible and sound more natural.
